Hi everyone and welcome to the shiny all new and improved blog with go-faster stripes, fluffy dice, and a GTI badge stuck on the back. The time had come to make some changes around here. The blog has developed and transformed so much since I started it two years ago, and was in desperate need of improvement, so the Rerouted Writer was born.
Step one, get a URL that was relevant. The old one was created on the spot when the blog was solely for the purposes of sharing work with friends, and as the name I chose was based on a character from a piece of work that is in moth balls for the foreseeable future, it really didn’t make any sense for where I am today. I hope all of my followers have transferred okay… Let me know, eh?
So, why Rerouted Writer? I hear nobody at all cry. Rerouted means a lot of things to me. It reflects the divergent paths my writing has taken since I began that creative writing course so long ago, from sci-fi and dark psychological stuff, to opinion pieces and travel blogs. It also has obvious connections to the various walks and hikes that I undertake and write about these days. Most of all however, it stands for the many ways in which my life in general is always rerouting, how much things have changed for me personally, and how I wish to continue to reroute into the future so that I can get to where I really want to be.
This leads onto the second stage – more content and engagement. You will see that the number of categories on this page has expanded, and my intention is to post more often and on more varied subjects, interspersed with fictional pieces and photos, plus hopefully someday I’ll get some guest bloggers involved too. I’ll be taking time to read more work by my fellow WordPressers, Twittering, Facebooking and all that jazz, and fingers crossed somewhere down the line be creating a partner blog with my dearest Sammy, but more on that as it develops. I’m also in talks with Dr. Emmett Brown of Hill Valley, California, about the use of a time machine to enable me to do all of this while holding down a full time job.
The content will be broken down into a few categories – Walking, in which I give a different slant on a walking guide (think experiences rather than accurate directions), Travel, a work in progress that will be updated on places I visit, Fiction, I think that speaks for itself, and finally Rerouted, where you’ll find thoughts and reflections on anything I find worth writing about.
I hope you’ll stick around and enjoy Rerouted Writer. Please do feel free to comment on and/or share things you read here (there’s all sorts of buttons below to do this), if you’re a WordPresser please hit follow, if you’re just stopping by then enter your email address in the ‘follow by email’ bit, and every now and then you’ll be notified when something new is posted, and find me on Twitter @reroutedwriter.
Thanks all, Jamie.
